Well, it's been nearly two years since my first attempt at maintaining a regular blog (you can click to it through my full profile). In 2008, I'm at a different place in my life. I have new focuses and new determination. More importantly, I've a new novel, which I put the finishing touches on just this month.
Now, with reluctant hopefulness, I wade toward the world of literary agents.
I won't offer up many details of my debut effort here, nor will I name agents, for better or worse. My intention is simply to chronicle my journey. Last but not least, this forum offers me another (and vastly different type of) outlet through which I can write regularly. And all the while I am working hard on my second novel.
So I don't forget where I'd like to go from here, my next two posts will be as follows:
1. Paul as an author, the early years - what brought me to thinking seriously about writing a book? what did I face, from the beginning through the start of my recently completed effort.
2. A little on the inspiration for my first book.

Well my dear Watson, what is there to say? For christsakes you pour your goddamn heart out here. Sound familiar? It should, read and write on. Here's one for you, just a poem but I think it's good.
Reality entwines within
The folds of the mediocre mind
When you don’t look-
One finds things Sublime.
Honestly, you confound my mind.
Even the proud Sunflower
With his golden hue
Has to be Jealous of you.
A little piece of Heaven-
An Angelic Ambassador-
Sent to the Mundane.
So that we might be able
To wonder how many
Wonders of the World there be.
I look to the beauty of the sea
But all I can see is thee.
The tides, and the ebb and flow of the Sea
Brings me back to reality.
And it seams the gift
That I must give
Is writ with that which was given to me.
Brought by my mind
Given to mankind
By the honesty of the Sublime.
